Important Notice: DOT Regulations on Marijuana and CBD Use
While marijuana use is legal in states such as New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont, Virginia, Rhode Island, and Maine, it is important to remember:
Marijuana remains a Schedule I controlled substance under federal law.
Under Federal Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, marijuana use is strictly prohibited — regardless of state laws.
This includes:
Recreational marijuana
Medical marijuana — even with a valid prescription
CBD products — which may contain enough THC to trigger a positive drug test result
A positive drug test is considered a violation of DOT regulations and may impact your employment and safety certification.
⚠️ Be cautious: Even over-the-counter CBD oils may contain trace amounts of THC.
Your safety — and your compliance — matters. If you have questions or concerns, reach out for guidance.
